A while ago, I wrote about The New Mexico Vacation Guide and how it inspired me to explore various areas of this fair state.  I do still appreciate the guide for its information and colorful photography, and I love sending copies of the guide as not-so subtle invitations to come visit for my family and friends out of state, but I have recently been finding much of my inspiration from Living Social and Groupon.

I found out about Romero’s Thunder through a discount coupon I received through Living Social.  A couple weekends ago, as the warmer weather beckoned me out of the house, I found myself driving up to Placitas to use my coupon for a horse ride.  It was a great experience, and one that I will definitely add to my repertoire of activities to offer my city-slicker friends when they come to visit me out here in the wild west.

The horses were beautiful and well trained, the guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and it was fun to explore the landscape at the base of the Sandias.  Seeing that I was not an experienced horse-rider, we ambled leisurely along the trail, soaking in the sun and the scenery.

Now is the perfect time of year to pretend you’re a cowboy in New Mexico.
